Webinar. Promoting transparency on energy costs: heating & cooling solutions

Industry players from the Renewable Heating and Cooling sector (bioenergy, geothermal, solar thermal, air-source/water based/geothermal heat pumps) are invited to participate in an online workshop with the following topics:

  • Levelised costs of heating and cooling: a new common approach
  • Acquiring a heating and cooling system: Key decision factors in five European countries
  • Comparing solutions: promoting transparency and a level playing field

This online event will take place on the 30th January, from 11h00 to 12h30 CET. Participation is free-of-charge but requiring registration.

Deep Geothermal ETIP invites Expressions of Interest in new Steering Committee membership 2017-2020

The deep geothermal ETIP invites interested parties to submit an Expression of Interest to become member of the ETIP’s Steering Committee for the period 2017-2020.

The deep geothermal ETIP was launched in March 2016. Since then, a provisional Steering Committee of the deep geothermal ETIP manages the technology platform and its working groups.

The Geothermal ETIP is an open stakeholder group, including representatives from industry, academia, research centres, and sectoral associations, covering the entire deep geothermal energy exploration, production and utilization value chain.

The deep geothermal ETIP has now launched an Expression of Interest procedure for membership of the Steering Committee 2017-2020. The members will be selected for a period of three years by a Selection Committee, consisting of members each from industry, research and policymaking.

Choosing renewable heating and cooling systems: new online tools for consumers

The FROnT project is presenting several new tools aimed at supporting consumers to make informed choices on available heating and cooling systems for their households or small enterprises. The tools, available online, will help end-users to assess the competitiveness of renewable energy technologies (biomass, solar thermal, air-source heat pumps, and ground-source heat pumps) against traditional fossil fuels, and to evaluate which renewable solution is a better fit for their needs.

The Renewable Heating and Cooling (RHC) Costs’ Calculation Tool has been developed to facilitate transparency and comparability of heating and cooling options. Based on the comparison of levelized costs of heating and cooling, the tool allows to estimate costs, payback period, and the environmental benefits of RHC technologies through a user-friendly interface. The methodology followed for the development of the tool is the result of an assessment of existing studies combined with the dialogue between FROnT partners and national experts.

The RHC Costs’ Calculation Tool is accompanied by a series of Guidelines on the use of the RHC costs’ estimation methodology and by a set of Frequently Asked Questions.
